A portrait of Tokyo in motion. Transport shares one colour: circles for ordinary vehicles, squares for trains with a confirmed individual delay, and small hollow circles for stations. Only active live observations breathe. Estimated positions do not pulse; vehicles without usable data are omitted.
Observed trains use reported station segments or, where supplied, GTFS-Realtime coordinates. Segment positions are not exact GPS positions. Timetable estimates do not identify a physical train. Aircraft estimates follow representative Haneda courses: the actual runway, take-off or landing time and flown route may be unknown. Airport departure times are not take-off times. Select a point to see its basis.
Some verified Rail routes use source railway geometry; other routes keep station-to-station renderings. The background uses processed Geospatial Information Authority of Japan maps. A missing position or delay report does not imply normal service, cancellation or suspension. This artwork is not for navigation or operational decisions.
SunCalc 1.9.0 calculates the sun for central Tokyo. Directional light is an artistic interpretation, not a local sunshine map. Rain uses Raindrop FX 1.0.8 and Open-Meteo liquid precipitation model totals converted by their period; these are not instantaneous measured rainfall. The sky uses Open-Meteo weather models for central Tokyo. When available, the latest past RainViewer radar frame is subtly overlaid; otherwise only the sky remains. Locate requests your position only when pressed. It stays in this browser and is excluded from saved images and shared links.
Data notes
Live means a currently valid observed position; Estimated means a currently valid inferred position. Estimates have no observation timestamp. Counts cover the full dataset, regardless of the map view or transport filters, after existing duplicate suppression.
Valid counts records within their validity period. Received counts the source response before validity and placement checks; — means unknown. Mapped counts rail positions this map can place. Rail observations report stations or segments and are not necessarily GPS coordinates.
ODPT departures and arrivals are flight-information records, not aircraft positions. Aircraft observations and flight information are acquired separately. Aircraft estimates use representative Haneda courses; the actual runway, take-off or landing time and flown route may be unknown. Airport departure is not take-off.
Fetched is source acquisition time, Observed is position-report time, and Updated is the source flight-information update time. All displayed times use Japan Standard Time (JST). Rail timetable Fetched is also its last timetable update.
Cached means a failed acquisition with still-valid previous data, not ordinary HTTP cache delivery. Stale means only expired data remains. Zero active data does not imply cancellation or service suspension.
